Younger Lynn steps out of the shadows
Woodlands back Warrick Lynn acknowledges there’s not many footsteps laid out in front of him by older brother Kendrick that he hasn’t also taken to date.
Two years ago Warrick made the move from Cambridge to Southland where his brother had already settled and was part of the Rugby Southland setup.
The younger Lynn also become part of the Rugby Southland family and, like his brother at the same ag,e he was doing his business as an outside back.
After some time in Southland Kendrick Lynn made the move to centre to fill a hole in the Stags team and that’s where he ended up making his name for both the Stags and Highlanders.
‘‘(Kenny) is 10 years older than me so I’d never really been in the same city as him and he just said it was a good environment down here so I came down and gave it a crack.’’ Warrick Lynn
The younger Lynn is now mulling over the prospect of also shifting from the No 15 jersey into the No 13 jersey and on Saturday is likely to get a taste in the new role playing there for Woodlands in the first round Southland premier club game against Blues.
‘‘I’m pretty much copying him [Kendrick] in every facet of life, I don’t know, it’s just happening,’’ Lynn told The Southland Times jokingly yesterday.
The 21-year-old St Peter’s College product from Cambridge said he had enjoyed his time in the south to date and was pleased he had made the move.

While his older brother has now left Southland and is living and playing in the Bay of Plenty, there is still another footstep in Southland that Warrick would love to follow.
That being the possibility of one-day wearing the maroon jersey at national provincial championship level.
‘‘Everyone wants to play in the big time, don’t they?’’
Lynn was one of Woodland’s standouts last year when they went on to Shield.
He is hopeful his club will make a good showing at going back-toback this season.
