I just think that was so fantastic.

An Invercargill couple are glowing after the image of Prince Harry and their granddaughter pulling faces at each other captured the world’s heart.

Heather and Warren Barker’s daughter Hayley Judd took 7-month-old Pippa to try to catch a glimpse of the popular young royal in Christchurch on Tuesday – and the rest is history.

The photograph of Pippa and the prince was picked up by news outlets throughout the world, including the The Mirror, Daily Mail and The Telegraph in Britain and in the United States, where E! Online and Hollywood Life both picked up the magical moment.

Heather Barker said she has had phone calls, texts and Facebook messages from family and friends throughout the world saying they had seen Pippa’s picture on television or in newspapers.

‘‘I just think that was so fantastic.’’

It was funny as their daughter had told her husband she was going to get a picture with Harry,

but no-one could quite believe what eventuated, Barker said.

‘‘It’s incredible how it went viral.’’

She said she was very proud of all her four grandchildren – each of whom seemed to be fairly social. ‘‘They’re all very outgoing.’’ Hayley Judd, who previously worked at the Invercargill City Council and whose own image has beamed out from ‘‘Welcome to Invercargill’’ signs, said the attention they had received was ‘‘quite ridiculous’’ but had not affected ‘‘super social’’ Pippa in any way. ‘‘She couldn’t care less.’’ Judd said she had hoped all the attention might make Pippa sleep a bit more – but there was no sign of that yet.
