Lee and Fowler trade pranks
Top New Zealand golfer Danny Lee teed up an elaborate prank on fellow professional golfer Rickie Fowler but the American seems to be having the last laugh.
Fowler, the world No 5, had his four-wheel-drive targeted by Lee as the pair exchanged pranks off the course. Lee tied a bundle of rope and road cones to Fowler’s car.
It was revenge on Fowler who earlier in the week set up a web of rope and road cones in Lee’s parking space, along with some handdrawn love hearts over Lee’s name.
Fowler told PGA Tour website of the prank: ‘‘This wasn’t me starting things, this is me getting back. Danny’s a little prankster ... I’m sure this is just the beginning.’’
Fowler is getting the better of Lee on the course, moving into a tie for third after a three-under 67 in the third round of the PGA Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.
Lee’s progress, meanwhile, has not been as marked; a one-under 69 seeing him climb just two places into a share of 10th with one round remaining.
Lee is at even-par, eight shots behind American Jordan Spieth whose two-under 68 saw him get to eight-under and assume the lead from Swede Henrik Stenson, who had a two-over 72 to drop to sevenunder.
Fowler is third alongside England’s Paul Casey, four shots back of Spieth at four-under par.
