Man arrested

A 58-year-old tourist is facing an assault charge after he hugged an 18-year-old shop assistant and kissed her on both cheeks in Gore on Sunday.

Sergeant Greg Ballantyne, of Gore, said the man entered the United Video store on Main Street, where he grabbed the woman, held her tightly and kissed her.

Police had spoken to the man about several other similar complaints they had received recently, he said.
