Passenger hits bus driver

- Fairfax NZ

An Auckland bus driver was assaulted by a passenger at the weekend.

Logan Pillay, 57, was hit in the face after refusing to let a passenger off in Grampian Rd in the suburb of Kohimarama. Pillay was seeking medical assistance on Monday, NZ Bus spokesman Shane McMahon said.

Fellow passengers came to Pillay’s aid but the assailant fled before police arrived. McMahon said the passenger asked Pillay to stop but ‘‘you can’t just stop in the middle of the road’’.
