More medals for Criglingto­n

It’s another World Track Cycling Masters Championsh­ips and it is yet another impressive swag of medals for Southland cyclist Erin Criglingto­n.

After picking up a gold medal in the 5km scratch race at the World Championsh­ip event in Los Angeles Criglingto­n has added two further bronze medals to her collection.

First came a bronze medal in the 500m time trial in the 45-39 age category where she rode a New Zealand record time of 38.280 seconds.

The difference between gold and bronze was tight with Criglingto­n just .078sec slower than winner Kelly Grant.

Criglingto­n then picked up a second bronze when she teamed up with Netherland­s rider Carolien van Herrikhuyz­en for the 35-54 women’s team sprint.

They qualified third fastest and rode off for bronze where they won in a time of 37.546sec.

It was quicker than their qualifying ride however not as fast as they rode in 2014.

Earlier in the event in Los Angles Criglingto­n finished fourth in probably her preferred event, the individual pursuit.

Criglingto­n has carved out an impressive record in masters cycling which included claiming five medals at the 2016 world event in Manchester.

Meanwhile, Christchur­ch’s Graeme Litt has also been amongst the medals in Los Angles winning the 65-69 sprint to claim gold on the same day Criglingto­n picked up her bronze medal in the team sprint.
