Warriors to face Cavs in final again

-

Golden State and Cleveland will meet in the NBA finals for the fourth straight season after the Warriors prevailed in their elimination game against Houston.

On the back of stellar displays from Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, the Warriors overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to beat the Rockets 101-92 in game seven of the Western Conference finals in Houston.

Curry was one rebound shy of a triple double as he finished with 27 points and 10 assists, while Durant scored a game-high 34 points.

Spurred on by a raucous home crowd, Houston controlled much of the first half, despite missing point guard Chris Paul who was ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

James Harden scored 32 points but when the game was one the line, they could not keep up with the Warriors’ second-half resurgence.

Golden State now resumes their rivalry against LeBron James’ Cavaliers with a chance to win back-to-back titles and their third championship in four years.

The teams first met in the NBA Finals in 2015 when the Warriors beat an injury-hit Cavs team in six games.

The following year Cleveland pulled off an epic comeback in game seven after trailing 3-1 in the series before the Warriors, boosted by the signing of former MVP Durant, were far too good last year, winning 4-1.

Game one of the NBA Finals takes place in Oakland on Friday.
