Con­sul­tant to help make South­land place to be

An in­de­pen­dent con­sul­tant has been em­ployed to de­velop the South­land Muri­hiku Des­ti­na­tion Strat­egy for 2018-28. Stafford Strat­egy has been ap­pointed to ad­vance the strat­egy and will work along­side Ven­ture South­land to im­ple­ment it across the re­gion. Al­bert Stafford, com­pany di­rec­tor for Stafford Strat­egy, said his team was look­ing for­ward to work­ing along­side key part­ners to de­velop a plan for des­ti­na­tion man­age­ment in South­land. The re­gion has seen sig­nif­i­cant growth in the tourism sec­tor since set­ting the goal of $1 bil­lion in tourism rev­enue by 2025, with a 23.5 per cent in­crease in tourism spend since July 2015. Ven­ture South­land tourism, com­mu­nity and events group man­ager Bobbi Brown said the strat­egy would be es­sen­tial for South­land to be pre­pared for the con­tin­ued tourism growth that was pro­jected.
