Dad overcomes intruder

As he held a knife to a 3-year-old’s throat, an intruder yelled at her father to get away or ‘‘I’ll do it’’. But Hamilton dad Beejay Pio had the last word as he knocked out the man. Beejay’s wife, Akita Pio, spoke about the ordeal yesterday in hopes it would make people vigilant about locking windows and doors. Police were still working out exactly how the 25-year-old man made his way inside about midnight, Akita Pio said. He grabbed a blunt knife from the kitchen and went to the children’s bedroom where he was confronted by Beejay Pio and grabbed the child. Akita managed to get their three children out of the room and called police while Beejay wrestled with their attacker. Police arrested a 25-year-old man at the scene.
