NPD gets green light for station
Gore’s retail petrol market is in for a shakeup as Nelson Petroleum Distributors confirms it will build a station in the town this year.
The town’s former swimming pool building, on the corner of Mersey and River streets, will be demolished to make way for the station, NPD chief executive Barry Sheridan said.
The site is on the town’s southern heavy traffic bypass.
‘‘We aim to commence construction as soon as possible in February with the site targeted to open in June 2019.
‘‘We didn’t have much difficulty finding the site. We’ve been in conversation with the landowner for some time and they were willing to sell the property to us.’’
Sheridan said the Gore site will be a high profile ‘self serve’ site that will function with lower operational and capital overheads, allowing NPD to provide lower priced fuel to motorists
‘‘Though pump prices do vary, we aim to provide savings of up to 20c per litre.’’
He confirmed the company would sell 100Plus, its high octane
