Munro Challenge

The Southland Times - - Opinion -

The Burt Munro Challenge is next month and it’s something to get excited about. The beautiful bikes not only on the track but on the streets, bring happiness and an appreciation of machine diversity.

I have been attending motorcycle racing events since 1997. My first mode of transport to work was a motorbike and it therefore brings a sweet connection.

To me events like Burt Munro are about family, pride and respect.

The skill and courage of all the riders that participate is to be commended.

I have just finished reading an inspiring autobiography of motorbike racer Freddie Spencer. When you are passionate about bikes it is good to learn about, and praise, the dedication that this sport requires.
