Evans wins in Rome
Mitch Evans erased memories of last year’s Rome Formula E race when he held off Germany’s Andre Lotterer for his breakthrough victory yesterday. The New Zealand driver became the seventh different winner in as many rounds of the all-electric series in a red-flagged race in Rome to give Jaguar Racing their first success of 2019. After starting from second on the grid, Evans passed polesitter Lotterer late in the race and held him off, crossing the finish line with only two per cent battery left. Evans, 24, said the victory rid the ‘‘bad memories’’ of the same venue last year when he ran out of power when leading.
