Time to organise your float for the Gore District Santa Parade

-

The Gore District Santa Parade is just over two months away, so it’s time for groups to register their floats.

The Parade will be held on Sunday 8 December and will again be followed by Christmas in the Park at the Gore Gardens.

Gore District Council events and promotions coordinator Emma Carle´ said this year Resene ColorShops has offered to provide paint for groups to produce their floats.

‘‘It will be well worth the effort too, because we have some very generous prizes for the best floats this year.’’

The categories are best overall float, best design, most unique and the people’s choice.

‘‘The Parade is a great opportunity for organisations, clubs and education providers to promote their activities. And it’s free to enter.’’

If groups didn’t have the time or materials to create a float it was also possible to hire floats from the Southland Santa Parade for a fee, Miss Carle said.

Letters have been sent to groups that have previously taken part in the parade.

‘‘New groups are always welcome to take part.’’

Registration forms are available to download from the Council

website goredc.govt.nz or can be picked up from the Council’s main administration block at 29 Bowler Ave.

Registrations close 5pm Friday 15 November.

The parade starts at 12pm followed by Christmas in the Park from 12.30pm to 3pm.
