Nursing is a career that makes a tangible difference to people’s lives and working in the healthcare sector is one of the most rewarding career choices available.

The sector provides opportunit­ies to work in environmen­ts that are fast-paced with plenty of variety, and can also nurture the passion to help others, for those driven by the desire work in a field that makes a difference in people’s lives.

For those thinking about studying or retraining in Nursing, there are a range of roles that provide practical, hands-on aspects, backed up with essential knowledge and skills, learned on some of the most advanced technology available in health education.

The Diploma in Enrolled Nursing is undertaken over 18 months and allows graduates to work in a variety of health care settings under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse.

The course is taught in two blocks of 30 weeks each and each block has a 50/50 split between theory and practical skills.

The practical components are in real-world situations where students gain supported clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings, including learning about specialist care topics such as Acute Care, Mental Health and Addictions, and Rehabilita­tion.

With the support and guidance of the experience­d team at Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), students can develop the skills required to become part of an industry that allows them to work with people from all walks of life.

Students are provided with a realistic view of what working in the health sector could look like.

And SIT nursing students have some of the best technology available to assist them in their training.

Microsoft HoloLens virtual reality software provides interactiv­e and immersive learning for them. Imagine being able to see inside a patient, exploring how different conditions affect the human body and how to fix ailments, all with the peace of mind that the patient is completely safe at all times.

Career opportunit­ies are broad for graduates, as enrolled nurses work as part of a medical and support team to deliver patient/client care across a range of health care settings, such as hospitals, medical centres, clinics and in the community.

With the wide variety of roles to choose from, Enrolled Nurses have the opportunit­y to progress, as career possibilit­ies are varied and can range from general nursing through to specialise­d roles.
