The 2 Degrees CTC team brings together a group of strong masters riders, predominantly based in Christchurch. Chris Allington is a relative newcomer to cycling, coming from a running background, but has already shown himself to be a formidable competitor. At the recent Masters Track World Championships, Allington claimed the world title in the Masters 45-49 scratch race, as well as silver in the individual pursuit, silver in the time trial, and silver in the points race. Andy Beale is another rider who has built up an impressive track pedigree recently, boasting a national record in his age group for the individual pursuit. When not riding his bike, he is a personal trainer at Koha Fitness in

Otautahi Christchurch. Mike Crawford has a connection to professional cycling, although this comes through his work as a tax advisor for some of New Zealand’s young World Tour and Pro Continental riders, helping them navigate the complexities of international tax, rather than through his own riding. Callum Henderson is one of the more experienced members of the team, having ridden the SBS Bank Tour of Southland previously… some 20 years ago. After an extended break from the bike, he found a new passion for ultra endurance cycling, which brings him back to the Tour for another go. Brent Spencer knows the roads of Southland well, having spent many years supporting his son Griffyn (now his team manager) on the road and track. It truly is a family affair for Brent, as his father in law Clarke Ferguson is the team’s driver.
