The township with is treelined streets and friendly faces is thriving community with a huge network of rural districts. Surprising­ly, it experience­s a different climate from that of Invercargi­ll and is often remarkably warmer than its neighbors to the south.

Situated on the Invercargi­ll-Queenstown highway, travelers find Winton a handy refreshmen­t stop with a host of character cafés and friendly pubs to enjoy.

With a picturesqu­e backdrop that includes the Takitimu mountain range, Spring Hills, and Forest Hill, you can be assured there is plenty to offer the outdoor enthusiast as well and a lot of rural scenes to soak up that change throughout the seasons.

If you fancy a stroll, the Winton Rotary trail is a very popular track consisting of 9km of native bush, local farmland, and Winton’s stream. It is a part of the heritage trail that takes in historic treasures built by the region’s European pioneers. The walkway is walk/ cycle/ pram and wheelchair friendly.

Winton offers an array of medical services, accommodat­ion, automotive services, engineerin­g, farm supplies and services, fashion shops, food and beverage businesses, gift shops, health and fitness, hire equipment, legal services, personal services, a wide range of retail and trades stores, - free internet is available at the library.
