Helicopters to be used for water mapping project

An aerial mapping project will hopefully provide more data about Southland’s underground water resources and links to river and streams. Environment Southland is assisting Aqua Intel Aotearoa with an airborne electromagnetic survey to find out more about aquifers under northern Southland. SkyTEM will be flying over the plains around the upper Oreti and Mataura rivers this month. Aqua Intel Aotearoa is a partnership between GNS Science and Ka¯noa, funded by Central Government’s Provincial Growth Fund.
