Lawson’s ‘happy weekend’

-

Liam Lawson ended his stint in Formula 2 on a high by claiming his second podium of the weekend at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Carlin driver backed up his victory in the sprint race with a third-place finish in yesterday’s feature race, capping off a memorable few days after he got to drive F1 champion Max Verstappen’s RB18 during the first F1 practice session. Lawson improved six places during the F2 feature race after starting ninth on the grid. He crossed the finish line 1.348 seconds behind winner Ayumu Iwasa, of Japan, who held off Brazil’s Felipe Drugovich on a tense final lap. The result saw Lawson finish third in the overall drivers’ championship.
