Big win, small crowd

-

Australia blasted a record total at the Melbourne Cricket Ground but just 10,406 fans were there to witness it in the lowest ODI crowd at the famous venue. With Australia taking an unassailable 2-0 series lead into Tuesday’s match, spectators stayed away for the third and final ODI against England. Australian openers David Warner and Travis Head walked out to bat in front of a crowd estimated to be less than 1000. More fans came into the stadium during the course of Australia’s innings as Warner and Head put on a 269-run partnership, powering Australia to 355-5. They then dismissed England for 142 in the 32nd over, giving them a win by 221 runs.
