A match made in heaven

-

guests who sent a gift but were unable to attend, mention you were sorry they couldn’t share the celebrations with you.

It is also a nice touch to include a wedding photograph.

In fact, if the budget allows it, you could send a photograph with every thankyou card, or design the card around your favourite image.

It is also a polite gesture to thank your wedding suppliers, over and above paying the bill on time.

They will very much appreciate a hand-written note acknowledging the part they played in your big day.

Your wedding shoes should complement your wedding dress but this doesn’t mean that they have to match exactly.

Silver, white and ivory are all favourite colours for wedding shoes but so too is coloured shoes that reflect bridesmaid or flowergirl colours.

If you do want to match your shoes exactly take a swatch from your dress with you when you go shoe-shopping or buy wedding shoes that are designed to be professionally dyed.

Have this done as early as possible to avoid stressful last minute changes if the colour isn’t exactly what you had hoped for.

A good rule of thumb is to team simple wedding shoes with an elaborate wedding dress and vice versa.

Once you have decided on your shoes, take them to dress fittings so your hemline can be adjusted.

Think about the aisle you will be elegantly walking along at the ceremony and afterwards.

Is it a beach or garden, hard floor of a church or carpet?

This will need to be taken into consideration when purchasing your wedding shoes.

To avoid discomfort on the big day break in your wedding shoes over time.

Starting a few weeks before the wedding, try wearing the shoes around the house for a few minutes at a time, gradually building up to wearing them for several hours.

Having a second comfy pair of shoes to slip into after the ceremony is becoming more and more popular as this means you can go choose that stunning but uncomfortable pair for the ceremony and then dance the night away in a more realistic pair.

A good tip is to buy your wedding shoes in the afternoon as feet tend to swell as the day wears on and have plasters to hand in case your feet get sore.
