It’s all in the family for the Marrs

- BRAYDEN LINDSAY

The Pleasant Point men’s division one football team had their own version of the Barrett family in their clash against Geraldine on Saturday - albiet in a slightly different capacity.

Rather than three brothers take to the field as in the Barretts’ case, Hamish Marr was able to play with his two Campbell and Harrison, for the first time on the football pitch.

The three all started and in different areas of the field, Harrison up front, Hamish in midfield and Campbell as a defender.

‘‘It was great that we’ve finally managed to be able to play together,’’ Hamish said.

Being on the field at the same time as his sons was something he wanted to achieve, while still playing football.

‘‘I’m stoked that we managed it because Campbell wasn’t originally playing this year and this is potentially going to end up as being my last year.’’

He said it was great they could celebrate the achievement with an impressive team showing.

‘‘The boys played really well today. It was a good win.’’

Hamish is proud of his sons and will continue to follow them once he steps back from playing.

Campbell, 19, said it was great to get on the park with his brother and father.

‘‘It’s great. It’s something we can look back at in years to come.

He said he has enjoyed playing in defence since returning to football with Point a few weeks ago.

‘‘I wasn’t going to play. I was just intending to do some junior coaching and take a year off but they kept asking me to fill in and now I’ve played I’ve got the football bug back.’’
