Wet gives way to fine for most of the country
The weather is expected to become settled over most of the country heading into the weekend, the MetService says. The weather forecasting agency says the sun broke out for many in the South Island yesterday, although some scattered showers were expected about the hills and ranges north of Aoraki/Mt Cook yesterday. MetService meteorologist Claire Flynn said today is looking like a fine day for much of the country, thanks to a high building over New Zealand. Timaru has been told to expect northeast breezes and 23 degrees Celsius today. In the Canterbury high country, Twizel will be fine with 28C today. "With the more settled end to the week, temperatures are also expected to warm up," Flynn said.
