Man charged over death

A 44-year-old man has appeared in court over the death of a man in O¯ tara, south Auckland, on Sunday. Ueta Vea, a painter from O¯ tara, was remanded in custody until his next appearance at the High Court in Auckland in February. Yesterday morning, Detective Senior Sergeant Warrick Adkin said police were called to an address in O¯ tara Rd at 6.50pm on Sunday, where a 62-year-old man was found dead. Police believed the victim and the alleged offender were known to each other.
