A Timaru Landmark: Exhibition at the South Canterbury Museum on Perth St, Timaru. A panorama of images showing how much a Timaru Catholic church has changed over the past century.

The Dividing Line: Exhibition at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Wai-iti Rd, Timaru. Nelson and German-based painter Lisa Chandler explores protest movements through her art. Runs until February 9.

Undercurre­nts: Exhibition at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Wai-iti Rd, Timaru. Artwork by Catherine Day that uses ridges, grids, and contours to depict moving into a new environmen­t. Runs until February 9.

Railcar ride and museum tour: 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm each day at the Pleasant Point Railway & Museum. Ride the Ford Model T railcar to the museum for a 45-minute tour. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for children, and $35 for a family. Runs until March 1.

Live music: 7.30pm at Speight’s Ale House on George St, Timaru. Australia’s Kallidad play their chilled tunes in the courtyard.

Live music: 8-11pm at the Town and Country Club on Douglas St, Timaru. Christchur­ch covers band DnD Showband (aka Dateless and Desperate) will take the audience on a journey through the decades and finish with an Abba set. Entry is $30.

Live music: 9pm at the Sail & Anchor Bar & Cafe on Sophia St, Timaru. Temuka band Sons of Remo play pub/rock songs.

TOMORROW

Harakeke weaving: 10am at PrimePort on the Marine Parade, Timaru. Learn the art of weaving harakeke roses and make gifts for visiting cruise ship passengers.

Orari Challenge Stakes Day: 11am4pm at the Orari Racecourse on Orari Racecourse Rd. Grass track harness racing, children’s entertainm­ent, and a vintage car display. Entry is free.

TOMORROW AND SUNDAY

All in 24-hour basketball: 10am on Saturday to 10am on Sunday at Caroline Bay, Timaru. A fundraiser for South Canterbury’s Cancer Society and Hospice.

SUNDAY

Central South Island Charity Bike Ride training ride: 9am at Temuka (turn in at campground). Register before 8.45am. Take care as roads are open to all vehicles.

Golf competitio­n: Midday at the Timaru Golf Club on Lynch Rd. An 18-hole competitio­n. Entry is $5.

Live music: 2-4pm at Hector Black’s on Stafford St, Timaru. Timaru band Joie de Vivre debuts with two sets of chill music.

Temuka Courthouse Museum Open Day: 2-4pm at the museum on Domain Ave, Temuka. View displays detailing Temuka and the district’s farming, family and social history. Runs every Sunday until April 12.
