Conserve water

A conserve water notice has been issued for the Pareora township. People in the township are advised to conserve water where possible over the weekend, following a pump breakdown, a statement from the Timaru District Council said. The temporary pump has a reduced capacity, so there is less water available for use. The council said it was working to improve this. ‘‘We would advise against heavy water usage until further notice’’, it said. People are asked to conserve water by not watering lawns or using sprinklers, avoiding watering garden beds, taking shorter showers, checking for leaks, turning off taps, and only using dishwashers and washing machines with a full load.
