Black Sticks v Australia

-

After 14 months without any international hockey, New Zealand and Australia will go headto-head in the Trans-Tasman series in Palmerston North from May 27. The four-match series for both men and women will be the final selection event before the two countries name their Tokyo Olympic squads. The new Massey University turf will play host to the series from May 27 to June 1. They will be the first internationals in New Zealand since the FIH Pro League was interrupted by Covid-19 in March 2020.

Genah Fabian has made a dominant start to her second season in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and a shot at the US$1 million prize. On the back of an impressive striking display and strong work in the clinch, the Kiwi mixed martial artist recorded a unanimous victory over American lightweight Laura Sanchez (1-1) in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Fabian (3-1), who trains out of Auckland gym City Kickboxing, almost doubled the output of her rival, landing 66 strikes to 34, with all three judges scoring the bout 30-27. Fabian is scheduled to make her second regular-season appearance on June 26.

Genah Fabian lands a heavy kick to the head of Laura Sanchez.
