Basilica work wins seismic award
The Sacred Heart Basilica in Timaru has won a seismic award at the Canterbury Heritage Awards. The church, which reopened in November 2020, had been closed for almost two years earthquake strengthening and last night at an event in Christchurch was named winner of the In Memory of Stephen Collins Seismic Award for the work. There were nine winners across six categories with Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House taking home the Supreme Award.
