Istanbul ‘bomber’ was caught by cameras

-

Turkish police say they have arrested the woman who planted a bomb in Istanbul that killed six people, blaming the Kurdish guerrilla group the PKK. The woman, who is Syrian and is said to have crossed into Turkey in the contested town of Afrin, was named as Ahlam Albashir, 23. Officials said she had confessed to having been trained as a ‘‘special intelligence officer’’ by the ‘‘PKK/PYD/YPG terrorist group’’. The PYD and YPG are the political and military wings of the Syrian branch of the PKK. They are the main component of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
