Walk a mile in old sandals of Apple boss for $358k

-

Steve Jobs once said that to be successful in business you had to be like the Beatles – and it seems that extends to the band’s footwear in the late 60s. A pair of ‘‘well used’’ Birkenstocks that belonged to the Apple cofounder in the 1970s and 80s and were saved by his former house manager have sold at auction for almost $220,000 (NZ$358,450). ‘‘The cork and jute footbed retains the imprint of Steve Jobs’ feet, which had been shaped after years of use,’’ Julien’s Auctions, in Beverly Hills, said. The shoes set a record for the highest price paid for a pair of sandals. The final price, with an accompanying non-fungible token (NFT) was $218,750, Julien’s said. The identity of the buyer was not disclosed.
