Lake spill warning

A warning has been issued of an imminent spill from Lake Tekapo into the Takapō /Tekapo River. The Mackenzie District Council says the spill warning is from Genesis Energy with the lake approaching its maximum control level due to high inflows. ‘‘The timing of the spill is dependent on rainfall events and could occur any time commencing as early as the next few days. Please do not camp in or around the Takapō /Tekapo riverbed.’’
