New channel showcases iconic TV shows.

1. The Queen was a fan of The Golden Girls and invited the cast to perform at the 1988 Royal Variety Performanc­e in London.

2. Estelle Getty, who played Dorothy’s mother Sophia on Golden Girls, was actually one year younger than her on-screen daughter, co-star Bea Arthur.

3. At the time of filming, Moonlighti­ng was the most expensive primetime series on television. Each episode cost an estimated $1.6 million.

4. Orson Welles’ last TV appearance was on Moonlighti­ng – he introduced The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice episode which was shot entirely in black and white. Welles died a week after shooting.

5. Three thousand actors auditioned for the role of David on Moonlighti­ng. During his audition, Bruce Willis ignored Cybill Shepherd. Once he left the room she told the creator of the series that they had to cast him. 6. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory sometimes wears a Greatest American Hero T-shirt.

7. Richard Briers said that he never liked his character of Tom Good on The Good Life. He described him as a selfish bully who forced his wife into giving up her lifestyle and doing what he wanted regardless of the personal cost.

8. In Frasier, the Jack Russell Eddie was played by Moose. When he retired at the end of season seven, his son Enzo took over the role. Moose had been bred with the idea of achieving a look-alike replacemen­t when it became clear Frasier would have a long run.

9. Frasier’s set designers spent almost half a million dollars creating his apartment.

10. Friends star Lisa Kudrow was originally cast as Frasier’s producer Roz. It was felt that while she was funny, she wasn’t forceful enough. She was replaced by Peri Gilpin after three days of rehearsals.
