Miley Cyrus is one of pop music’s biggest stars but she is not the only family member in the spotlight.

Her mother Tish, 50, and her eldest sibling Brandi, 30, who share a passion for home design, are starring in their own reality series, Cyrus vs Cyrus: Design And Conquer.

Here the mother and daughter each present their interior-design ideas to homeowners who decide whose style they like best. Mother and daughter then work together on the winning design.

It is the first time that Brandi, a DJ and fashion blogger, and Tish, an entertainment manager, have had their own TV series.

“My mum and I have never really worked together,” says Brandi. “So it was something that we definitely talked about before we said yes to that because we didn’t want to mess up the great relationship we have.

“But it didn’t. Obviously we fought like everybody would, but it ended up making us even closer.”

Brandi bought her first home two years ago and spent a year “renovating it and gutting it”. There is a good chance she inherited her home-design passion from Tish who became interested in the subject as a young mother in the early 1990s.

Back then Tish and her country music husband Billy Ray Cyrus (of Achy Breaky Heart fame) had just bought their first house in Nashville.

“(Billy Ray) was just never home and the house definitely needed a lot of work,” she says.

“So while he was gone so much and the kids were so little, I literally hung all the wallpaper and painted everything myself.” Billy Ray appears in Cyrus vs

Cyrus along with the couple’s other children – Trace, 28, Miley, 24, Braison, 23, and Noah, 17.

“You do get a small piece of our family,” says Tish, “and I think people are definitely interested in our family and how we are as a family when we’re all together.

“But, more importantly, it’s a true interior design show with a little bit of Cyrus on top.”
