Rules Don’t Apply Sky Premiere, 8.30pm Starring Warren Beatty, Lily Collins. Romcom revolving around the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes and a religiously conservative starlet. It’s no Aviator but Hughes’ real-life foibles would spice up any script and the reclusive genius is played to good effect here by Beatty. ★★★

The Rookie Prime, 9.30pm Starring Charlie Sheen, Clint Eastwood. This is a predictable blood-and-guts exploitation flick, notable only for what must be Eastwood’s most embarrassing screen sex scene. Made in 1990, these were better times for the troubled Sheen, but he goes through the motions here as junior to Eastwood’s veteran cop. ★★

The 5th Eye M ori TV, 8.30pm Everything you wanted to know about New Zealand’s role in the Five Eyes intelligence network. Interesting, even if there is not a lot new. This documentary is a testament to the investigative work done by Nicky Hager. ★★★
