Dancing show turns into a farce

- Helen Warburton (Nelson) Cheryl (Auckland) Dorothy Burt (Levin)

I have just finished viewing another Dancing With The Stars (June 11) and observing another expert couple, Suzy (Cato) and Matt, depart the show. The talent and arduous work all these couples have put into their dances each week has been inspiring and admirable. What a joke. It doesn’t matter how well you can dance but all of a sudden, due to public vote, you are down in the bottom two. Then the judges have the agonising decision to vote who stays. Tonight’s show was very emotional from all the judges. To eliminate a good dancer shows what a farce this show is. Come on, TV3. How about a real Dancing With The Stars with more voting from the judges and seeing the best dancers survive right through to the end.

Unbelievable! I swear I will never watch another season of Dancing With The Stars. If this is supposed to be a dance competition, why not just let the professionals judge it? Or just stand everyone in a row and say, “Pick your favourite character”. David Seymour should withdraw from the competition. It is just a farce. I should have learnt years ago when the same thing happened with the Invercargill mayor Tim Shadbolt. I am so very angry. Please change the rules if there is ever another season. If other viewers have the same opinion there won’t be anyone watching any further episodes to contribute to charities.

It seems so unfair that the best dancers on Dancing With The Stars, despite high points from the judges, have been knocked out of the show. But others, who are not so good, remain simply because they must have a lot of public votes for who they are, rather than their dancing ability. I do wish it was fairer and judged by the professional dancers only. The judges were obviously shocked by the results and really upset, as were the great dancers who were knocked out.
