Bring me sunshine, not more repeats

The TV Guide - - MR TELLY -

Looking through the TV Guide I was amazed to find that on Saturday, October 27 there were six repeat programmes in a row from 8.05pm. On TVNZ 2 and Three there were movies. There were also movies on Choice and M ori TV. Why do we get so many repeats and movies. Are there no other programmes available? What happened to decent comedy and light entertainment shows such as Morecambe And Wise and Steptoe And Son or are these available only to those who can afford pay TV? Surely there is something similar to these available. The so-called local comedy shows we get now seem to think bad language is funny when it is really quite pathetic. There must be more programmes available than continued repeats of repeats of repeats.

I have just opened my TV Guide for week Oct 27-Nov 2 and am horrified that on the Saturday beginning that week TVNZ 1 had no fewer than 17 repeats from 6am Saturday to 3.20am Sunday. Over that same time span there were only five non-repeats plus the 6pm News and the Lotto draw. What on earth is going on, TVNZ 1? It’s no wonder people are moving away from standard TV viewing towards Netflix etc. I am in my senior years, live alone and don’t have the luxury of a smart TV and really enjoy my telly for company. But all these repeats are driving me mad.
