Ridiculous Shorty plumbs the depths

- Concerned Viewer (Levin) Shelly Preston (Taupo) Cheryl (Auckland)

I have been a fan of Shortland Street for years but have changed my opinion. The storylines have become ridiculous. We have been inundated with poor acting. This includes the rude receptionist who would never have been employed in today’s workplace, the nurses who just take off on holiday when the hospital is supposed to have a nursing shortage, the harvesting and transplanting of a heart without proper hospital procedures, and the murderous Dylan who is still practising. And now we are being bombarded with gay/bisexual couples and the latest episodes of threesomes. I will not be watching another episode.

Things have changed dramatically over the past few weeks on Shortland Street, and not for the best. What are the writers thinking with a doctor stealing drugs and shooting up? It’s not a good look for our dedicated doctors. Also the threesome scenes, what a disgust. I just hope younger viewers don’t decide this is the normal way in bed and start copying it.

I never thought it was possible for Shortland Street to stoop any lower with the storylines but there it is – the Nanny asking Drew and Harper to join her in a threesome. Seriously! This programme should be much later in the evening. Are the writers so lacking in ideas for good stories they have to

resort to titillation?

I have finally decided to stop watching Shortland Street after 24 years. I can’t believe how stupid the show has become and, worse, the low standard of morality. My granddaughter used to watch this show a few years ago when she was about eight and at that time there was nothing in there she shouldn’t have seen. But, oh, how this has changed.
