The TV Guide - - CONTENTS -

When it comes to baking, my forte is towards the end of the production chain. I am happy to sample most cakes, biscuits or desserts that are offered to me. I always enjoy home baking and it helps having a wife who is an excellent baker. But I think my admiration for people with such talents, stems back to my childhood. My mum would do her best to steer me in the right direction in the kitchen but I would best sum up my efforts as “creative”. My dad would always politely express his gratitude for whatever I turned out but I never recall him going back for seconds. So TV Guide writer Sarah Nealon deserves plenty of praise for putting her reputation on the line for the sake of a baking story (see page 12). Under the guidance of Sue Fleischl, Sarah made a lemon syrup cake. It was delicious (and was well worth going back for a second slice). [email protected]
