Older and wiser
One of my TV highlights of the past year, at least at the time, was TVNZ’s decision to jump ahead with episodes of Coronation Street to almost catch up with Britain. I thought this showed a renewed commitment by TVNZ to Coro. How wrong was I? Despite words to the contrary, TVNZ continues to treat Coronation Street and its viewers with contempt by relegating this show to a late timeslot, at a time when most people are heading off to bed. If TVNZ really cared about Coronation Street, as it claims, it would screen it each weeknight at 7.30pm. I would love to see that in the New Year. Why does TVNZ continue to treat Coronation Street viewers so badly? Is it because we are perceived as old? Young people apparently don’t watch regular TV any more. So, TVNZ, why not treat your loyal viewers better even if they are a bit older than you would like?
