Compelling HBO mini-series about alcoholic, self-harming reporter Camille Preaker who is assigned to cover the murder of two teenage girls in her town after she is discharged from a mental hospital. She is a vulnerable, conflicted heroine, much like Homeland’s bipolar CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes). But Mathison didn’t have a mother like Preaker’s – brilliantly portrayed by Patricia Clarkson.
