... and responses from the channels
TVNZ responds: There have been a lot of programming changes this past week and that’s been frustrating for some of our viewers. Changes were made to incorporate extended news coverage. Across TVNZ 1, 2 and Duke we also decided to remove programmes containing violence and gun use. We’ve heard from a number of people who have let us know they were struggling with this content in the immediate aftermath of the events in Christchurch. We are being sensitive to their needs. We’re in the process of returning to normal scheduling and all your favourite shows will be coming back. Our sincere thanks for your patience.
Three responds: Due to the tragic events in Christchurch our programming was altered to make way for breaking news coverage which was in the interest of the New Zealand public during and in the aftermath of the situation. We are committed to our viewers and have been responding to the mood of the nation during this time which naturally means amending our schedule accordingly.
Sky TV responds: We are pleased to confirm that Sky News Australia became available to our customers again on Wednesday, March 20. We swapped to Fox Sport News in consultation with Sky News Australia. It was a proactive and precautionary decision to ensure any live coverage or commentary taking place in Australia, outside of the New Zealand jurisdiction, did not compromise the New Zealand investigations and legal process. We have been working closely with Sky News Australia to address those concerns, and we were pleased to be in a position to put the channel back up on Wednesday.
