If you missed out on seeing the current remake of this classic tale at the movies, settle back with this 1994 favourite featuring an all-star cast including Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Susan Sarandon (above) and Kirsten Dunst. This drama which follows the lives and loves of the March sisters is a certified three lace-hankie weepie.

Great Australian Railway Journeys SUNDAY Dunkirk Living, 7.30pm

Michael Portillo (left) returns to ride the rails again. This time around, some of his adventures include travelling from Canberra to Melbourne, Sydney to Broken Hill and Newcastle to Brisbane.

TVNZ 1, 8.30pm

This retelling of the Dunkirk evacuation stunningly captures the tension and action of a pivotal moment during World War II. This engrossing drama from writer and director Christophe­r Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) is told from three perspectiv­es – land, sea and air. It’s a story that is guaranteed to get your palms sweating, as soldiers anxiously await evacuation, and your heart soaring, as ordinary people take to their boats to assist in the rescue efforts across the Channel.

MONDAY Ants On A Shrimp Maori TV, 8.30pm

In this documentar­y, renowned chef Rene Redzepi relocates his famed restaurant NOMA from Copenhagen to Tokyo temporaril­y. It’s a fascinatin­g window into the creative process of a Michelin-starred chef as he and his team create innovative dishes with unusual ingredient­s. As the title suggests, that includes ants, which are said to taste ‘citrusy’.

Sanditon UKTV, 9.30pm

Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, this drama follows Charlotte Heywood, a young woman who leaves country life behind to experience

Anne Reid from Sanditon the upwardly mobile seaside town of Sanditon. And because it’s Austen, you can expect the kind of romance where every coy glance, glimpsed ankle, and hanky-flutter is loaded with meaning and longing.

TUESDAY The Great British Bake Off Prime, 7.30pm

In these troubling times, one thing remains the same – cake makes everything better. Sandi, Noel, Paul (above) and Prue are back in the tent to help you self-soothe with a new season of this competitiv­e cooking series. Tonight, the bakers make fruit cake, angel cake and the birthday cake they always dreamed of as a child.

Matau Bros Gone Fishing Maori TV, 8.30pm

The Matau brothers (above) are in Rarotonga and they have their eyes – and their lines – set on catching a sea monster of sorts. They’re after giant trevally which can grow up to a weighty 80kg.

WEDNESDAY Sky 5, 9.30pm

Jennifer Lopez returns as shady detective Harlee Santos for a second season of this series about police corruption. Now that Lieutenant Wozniak (Ray Liotta) knows Harlee is an FBI informant, she is desperate to get back in his good graces.

Lego Masters USA

City planning gets the Lego treatment tonight when the remaining teams design a mega-city block. Once they have completed their neighbourh­ood, all the pieces will be joined together to create a giant Lego land. But for one team, there is a dramatic moment that causes them to brick it and could result in them limping away from the competitio­n.

O’Hanlon (Father Ted) hosts this stand-up comedy show featuring comedians Sara Barron and Mawaan Rizwan.

FRIDAY Go Further South TVNZ 1, 7pm Prime, 7.30am

Travel from the comfort of home on a 12-hour journey from Bluff across the sub-Antarctic islands to Scott Base, Antarctica in an old Russian research vessel. This ‘slow TV’ adventure follows on from the popular train journey Go South. “There’s so much to see,” producer Spencer Stoner told TV Guide. “We don’t go straight to Antarctica. Along the way we stop off at the different islands. So the whole first half of the journey is actually made up of all of the amazing New Zealand sub-Antarctic islands.” A three-hour highlights package will screen at 8.20pm.

Extreme Chocolate Makers Easter Special

In this delicious special, the Extreme Chocolate Makers conjure up magical Easter treats. There’s an edible chocolate shop, an enormous chocolate egg and a fantasy creation inspired by the surreal imaginatio­n of author Lewis Carroll.
