EDITOR’S LETTER

With TV Guide Editor Julie Eley This week we are running an exciting competition which has set me reminiscing about the early days of Shortland Street. We are giving one lucky couple the chance to win a role on New Zealand’s favourite soap and meet the cast and crew once filming stops. Over the years, Shortland Street has rightly become one of the most popular programmes on television, but it wasn’t always like that. Initially, viewer reaction was mixed about the show which was filmed in an old warehouse situated next to my gym in Browns Bay. I always knew when someone was due to film a scene where they were required to be shirtless because they would suddenly sign up for sessions with a personal trainer. Things have certainly changed a lot since then but I’d love to hear your early memories about the show. Also, don’t forget to enter the competition for what promises to be an unforgettable day out.
