Oh Mercy! Sky Premiere, 8.30pm Starring Roschdy Zem, Lea Seydoux. A slightly ponderous, verging on boring, crime drama based on a reallife murder. Some critics have likened it to an episode of Law & Order and if you view this film with that thought in mind you won’t be disappointed. ★★★

The Lincoln Lawyer

TVNZ Duke, 8.30pm

Starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei. This well-crafted legal thriller about a sleazy, low-rent defence attorney who works out of the back of his car ticks all the right boxes, and gave Matthew McConaughey his best chance to make a real impact on screen since A Time To Kill in 1996 and Amistad in 1997 – two movies in which McConaughey also played a lawyer, funnily enough. ★★★★
