107-year life ends
One of Upper Hutt’s oldest residents has died.
Hazel Furzey died at Heretaunga Resthome on August 6. She celebrated her 107th birthday in March.
Mrs Furzey’s son, Bob Munro, said his mother’s condition had started going downhill a couple of weeks ago and she passed away in her sleep.
A 2011 Statistics New Zealand report estimated that there was likely to be fewer than 40 people in New Zealand who were older than 105.
