School wants scrap metal for fundraiser
The Waihi Central School needs your help and is on the lookout for any scrap metal to help raise funds for its Northland Adventure Camp.
Its scrap metal fundraiser starts on Monday and will run through until Sunday September 23.
The fundraiser will enable the school to take its Year 5 and 6 students to Northland for a learning experience outside the classroom.
Deputy principal Vanessa Maunder is encouraging people in the community to donate any unwanted items made of materials like aluminium, copper, lead and steel.
“We would be very happy to take them off your hands. We will send a collection team to your property to pick up the items and take them away. The collection area includes Waihi, Waikino, Waitawheta, Golden Valley, Waimata, Waihi Beach, Bowentown, Athenree Gorge and Athenree.”
She said the school was very fortunate to have the support of the Waihi Lions Club and OceanaGold in this venture and greatly appreciated their assistance.
