UPCOMING EVENTS AT WAIHI COLLEGE

- By WENDY SHAVE

Shave for a Cure

Join us as we watch many brave souls with big hearts shave their locks in support of Leukemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand at the Waihi College Hall on September 20 at 6.30pm (doors open 6.15pm). Come along with a gold coin, have fun and show your support for this great cause. Go to www.shaveforacure.co.nz and search Waihi College in the teams section to donate. Some of our talented music students will also be performing so it will be a great community event. If we can raise our goal amount of $3000, Mr Cochrane has promised he will let the students colour and cut his hair at school during the week — that’s totally worth a donation.

Talent Quest

College students are auditioning up for the upcoming Talent Quest which on September 26. This event is always a hit and a heap of fun and this year will be no exception. Surprises, spot prizes and of course talent in spades . . . Come along and join us as we witness the talent unfold. Gold coin entry at the door.

Art for peace

Some of our art students were at Waihi East School recently getting the kids to help them with the upcoming project for Armistice week called Peace Wings. The kids worked together painting wooden feathers in honour of the soldiers who went to war. The finished project will be displayed in the shape of wings at the Pump House for two months starting in November. Pop along, take a photo, and send your best one to wendys@waihicol.school.nz if you’d like it added to our Facebook page.
