THE COSTS
The KiwiCamp initiative is paid for with a $340,000 grant from Central Government with Western Bay of Plenty District Council using $200,000 of it to fund the project which needs to be in place by December 1 for Council to qualify.
The rest will go on setting up smart bins districtwide ($60,000) and CCTV cameras to monitor the facility ($80,000). Setting up the facility for a trial period this summer in the Community Centre carpark might cost extra.
