Council joins groups to promote business

-

Hauraki District Council has joined forces with Te Waka (Waikato Regional Economic Development Agency) and Hauraki town promotional organisations Positive Paeroa, Positively Promoting the Plains and Go Waihi to create Evolve Hauraki.

Evolve Hauraki has created Business Bites, a series of quick business talks from experienced guest speakers over breakfast.

Council Economic Development Committee Chair Ross Harris says the idea is to deliver quick bites of information that busy business owners can digest with their cornflakes, without taking too much time out of their day. The breakfasts would also be an opportunity to chat with others facing the same challenges, support each other, and share ideas.

“Local businesses make a huge contribution to the success of our communities. We know running a business is hands-on and hard work and we’re keen to support you to be successful in any way we can,” he said.

Guest speakers include Greg Wallace from innovative Hamilton tech business Rocketspark, who will share some simple ways to get the most out of your online presence, and Blick Industrial’s Shaun Tubb who will talk about the digital journey of his successful drilling tool business.

Te Waka business advisors will also be on hand to provide information about the services they offer free of charge.

“They take a bird’s eye view of your whole business, help you access business funding and grants and provide access to ongoing mentoring and support,” says Councillor Harris,

■ The first Business Bite, Your Digital Journey, is 7am-8.30am on Wednesday, October 31 at Paeroa College. Cost: $15/person. Register at www.eventbrite.co.nz
