On Sun­day in Paeroa at 10.55am a pa­rade as­sem­bled un­der Com­man­der John D’Ath to mark the cen­te­nary of Ar­mistice Day. The small crowd was wel­comed by RSA pres­i­dent Dave Rawl­in­son and at 11am one minute of si­lence fol­lowed. A homily was given by Rev­erend Heather Simp­son then two Miller Av­enue School stu­dents, Nicholas Rosen­berg and Eter­nal Te Moananui, spoke. Lone piper Ron Fer­gu­son played, and the

Last Post was played by Si­etze de Jong. The Ode of

Remembrance was read by Wel­fare Ad­vi­sor Carol Lin­ton. The event ended with Reveille played by Mrs de Jong and bal­loons were re­leased over Paeroa by stu­dents.
