Event adds Christ into Christmas
The Waihi Combined Churches inaugural event on Saturday following the Christmas parade is likely to be held next year, organisers say.
Seventh Day Adventist Church pastor Marilyn Pasione says the churches wanted to add “a little bit of Christ in Christmas”.
“The parade was beautiful but then it just disappears so we thought let’s put something on to give the community a little bit more.”
The churches pooled funds to hire a bouncy castle and provided a sausage sizzle, face painting, Christmas cardmaking, games and storytelling.
About eight different churches from around town were involved in the event.
“We meet once a month and this is the first time we decided to do something of this nature after the parade. It is going so well that I think we will definitely have it again next year.
“It has been a great day.”
